Remember "Spiraling Down" from SVU Season 13?
Okay, okay, confession time. I have a soft spot for some of the *weird* episodes of Law & Order: SVU. And "Spiraling Down" is definitely one of them.
What's the Gist?
A Wall Street guy falls to his death. Is it suicide? Maybe! Is it something way more complicated involving his personal life? Almost definitely!
We get a glimpse into the high-pressure world of finance. Think Gordon Gekko, but maybe with slightly better hair.
The Case Itself
Our victim, played by Hamish Linklater, is a bit of a jerk, let’s be honest. He's got secrets, he's got enemies, and he's got a seriously messy personal life.
The SVU squad dives in, navigating the twists and turns. They sift through Wall Street types and suspicious characters.
The Unpopular Opinion Section
Here's where things get spicy. I actually found this episode engaging. I know, I know, some people thought it was convoluted.
But the messy drama? I'm here for it! The stock market craziness? Surprisingly interesting, at least for an hour.
Stabler's Absence (Or Lack Thereof)
Season 13 was post-Stabler. Did I miss Chris Meloni’s brooding presence? Of course!
But the show still kept going. It had to change. And honestly, sometimes the shift in dynamics was refreshing.
The Verdict (My Verdict, Anyway)
Look, "Spiraling Down" isn't perfect. It's not a classic like some of the earlier seasons.
But it's a solid, watchable episode that throws us into a totally different world. I enjoy that.
Random Thoughts
Detective Benson? Always a boss. No matter the case, she's the rock of the show.
The guest stars? They usually deliver. Hamish Linklater does a great job portraying a complex, flawed character.
Final Confession
I've seen this episode more than once. Don't judge me! Sometimes you just need a good, slightly over-the-top SVU episode.
It's my comfort food TV. Is there something wrong with me? Maybe. But I own it!
Anyone Else?
Am I alone in appreciating this episode? Please tell me I'm not!
Let's be real, SVU has had some real stinkers. But I don't think "Spiraling Down" is one of them. What do you think?
Before You Go
So next time you're scrolling through your streaming service, give "Spiraling Down" another look. Maybe you'll see what I see.
Or maybe you'll hate it. That's okay too! We can still be friends, even if you have terrible taste in SVU episodes (just kidding!).
