Okay, let's talk Star Wars: Visions. Specifically, episode 3, "The Twins." Buckle up, because I might have some thoughts you weren't expecting.
Everyone seems to love it. Big action, crazy designs, dramatic music. But... am I the only one who found it a tad... much?
The Twins: Too Much of a Good Thing?
Seriously, those Star Destroyers colliding? Cool visual, sure. But my brain went straight to, "Insurance is gonna be a nightmare!"
The whole plot felt like someone cranked the Star Wars dial to eleven. Twins born of the dark side? Massive kyber crystal cannon? We get it, you're embracing the anime aesthetic!
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the ambition. It's certainly unlike anything we've seen in live-action Star Wars. But it also feels disconnected.
A Light Side Perspective (Maybe)
Am is trying to bring balance between dark and light sides. That's kind of sweet, right? But building a super weapon to do it seems counterintuitive.
Then there's Karre, who is supposedly the "good" twin. He just comes across as whiny. Sorry, Karre, but I’m not buying your redemption arc that easily.
The animation is gorgeous, I'll give it that. Studio Trigger's style is unmistakable. But even the prettiest package can't fix a story that feels... hollow.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
Here's the thing: The Twins feels more like a parody of Star Wars than a loving tribute. It's like they took all the tropes and cranked them up to absurd levels.
Maybe that’s the point. Maybe it's supposed to be over-the-top. But I prefer my Star Wars with a little more subtlety.
I know, I know. This is probably sacrilege. But I just didn't connect with this episode the way everyone else seems to have.
The Real Star: That Droid
Actually, scratch that. There *was* one thing I loved: the droid. That little guy was hilarious!
Seriously, give that droid its own spin-off. I'd watch a whole series of him just bumbling around the galaxy.
He's the only character that felt genuinely charming and funny. Forget the Force twins; give me more droid shenanigans!
Is it Just Me?
Look, I'm not saying The Twins is terrible. It's visually stunning and has some cool ideas. It just didn't resonate with me personally.
Maybe I’m just an old-fashioned Star Wars fan. Maybe I prefer my space operas with a little less screaming and a little more heart.
So, tell me. Am I the only one who feels this way? Or is anyone else secretly thinking The Twins was a bit of a miss? Let me know in the comments!
Don’t get me wrong, I still love Star Wars. Even the parts that aren't my favorite. May the Force be with you... and may your kyber crystal cannons be properly insured.
Unpopular opinion: The Twins is overhyped!
