Okay, let's talk about something potentially controversial. Are we all truly obsessed with The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.? I mean, REALLY obsessed? I'm not so sure.

Don't get me wrong, I chuckled. There were moments of genuine amusement. But did I laugh until my sides ached like everyone else seemed to? Nope.

Psychic Powers, Predictable Problems?

The premise is great. A psychic teen, Saiki Kusuo, just wants to be normal. But his powers keep getting in the way.

Sounds hilarious, right? It is… sometimes. The jokes started feeling a bit repetitive after a while.

Predictable even. Is he going to avoid attention? Is he going to use his powers subtly (or not so subtly)? Yes, always.

The Supporting Cast: Love 'Em or Leave 'Em?

The characters are… interesting. We have the airhead, the chuunibyou, the perfect girl. They are all caricatures.

Some people adore them. I found them a bit grating after a while. Especially Nendo… seriously, what's the deal with Nendo?

I get that he's supposed to be oblivious. But his obliviousness became his only defining trait. Kind of one-note, don't you think?

Gasp! I know, I know. Heathen! But hear me out. I enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away.

The Pacing Problem?

Sometimes the pacing felt off. Some episodes flew by. Others felt like they dragged on forever.

It's like the jokes had a shelf life. A joke that was funny the first time felt stale the third. Even with Saiki's deadpan delivery.

Maybe it's because the format, short stories that are not connected is harder to follow.

But, It's Still Good! (Kind Of)

And the animation is cute. Saiki's expressions (or lack thereof) are priceless sometimes.

The voice acting is also top-notch. Japanese and English dubs are both great. This point is undeniable.

And that's okay! We don't all have to agree on everything. Even if that thing is The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
