The Passion Of Joan Of Arc Full Movie

Okay, let's talk about something... dramatic. Something black and white. Something... French. *dun dun DUN!*

The Passion of Joan of Arc: Overrated? Hear Me Out!

Before you sharpen your pitchforks, let me clarify. I'm not saying it's *bad*. It's just... a lot. A whole lot of face. All the time.

Faces, Faces Everywhere!

Seriously, have you seen this movie? It's basically two hours of extreme close-ups. Renée Falconetti, as Joan, has an incredibly expressive face. But after the fiftieth close-up of her looking vaguely anguished, I start wondering if she needs chapstick.

I mean, I get it. Anguish! Torture! Spiritual conflict! But maybe sprinkle in a wide shot of the French countryside? Or, like, a cat? Just *something* to break up the monotony.

Did They Have to Make Everyone So Ugly?

Now, I know, I know. They were going for realism. These were probably real dudes, not Hollywood pretty boys. But still! Couldn't they have found *one* attractive extra?

It's like they intentionally cast the most grotesque people they could find. The judges all look like they haven't slept in a decade and solely subsist on questionable cheese. Is this supposed to make me sympathize with Joan more? Because mostly, it makes me want to send them all to a spa.

The Plot Thickens (Or Does It?)

The plot? Well, it exists. Joan is accused of heresy. She's interrogated. She suffers. Repeat.

There's definitely a historical context, and Joan of Arc is a fascinating figure. But this movie boils it down to, well, her passion. Lots and lots of passion. Mostly in the form of intense stares.

Silent, But Not *That* Silent

It's a silent film, which is fine. I'm down with subtitles. But the lack of a score is... jarring. It’s just, so… quiet. Except for the occasional rustling of robes and the heavy breathing of the extras.

I kept wanting some epic orchestral music to swell. Or maybe even just a lone flute. Something! Anything! To fill the void of all those silent, judging faces.

Is It Important? Probably. Is It Enjoyable? Debatable.

Look, I understand the historical significance. The Passion of Joan of Arc is considered a masterpiece of silent cinema. It’s a landmark in filmmaking. But that doesn't necessarily make it a fun Friday night movie.

It's like eating your vegetables. You know it's good for you, but you'd rather have pizza. And sometimes, you just want pizza. You want explosions and witty dialogue and maybe a robot or two.

So, yeah. Unpopular opinion: The Passion of Joan of Arc is a bit overrated. But hey, at least Falconetti gave us some meme-worthy facial expressions, right? And if that’s not entertainment, I don’t know what is.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch a movie with a talking dog. Don’t judge.
