Here's my controversial take: all gadgets should have a big, red, obvious action button. Labeled "DO STUFF". Preferably with flashing lights.

Imagine silencing unwanted alarms with a single satisfying *thump*. Or restarting your playlist without even looking. Bliss.
But no. Instead, we get swipes and menus. It's the digital equivalent of searching for a parking spot downtown on a Saturday night.
Alexa, Help Me!
I tried asking Alexa, naturally. "Alexa, where's the action button?" Her response? A helpful explanation about how to control smart home devices.
Close, but no cigar. It's like ordering a pizza and getting a pamphlet on the history of cheese. Relevant, but not what I needed.
Maybe *Alexa* is the action button? A disembodied button. An invisible hand controlling my digital life.

Alright, alright, I'll admit defeat. Maybe the *Echo Show 8* doesn't have a dedicated action button. Maybe I'm chasing a phantom.
But a girl can dream, right? A dream of a simpler time. A time when gadgets had clearly labeled buttons that did exactly what you expected.
