Okay, let's talk about something. Something a little...controversial. Where's all the love for Raven in Titans Season 3? I mean, seriously!
Missing the Magic?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Season 3. Gotham was gritty. The villains were properly villainous. But something felt…off.
And I think I know what it was. We didn't get enough Raven!
The Glow-Up...or Glow-Down?
Let’s be honest, Raven's storylines in previous seasons were compelling. She dealt with her demonic heritage. She fought Trigon. You know, the usual teenage stuff.
Then Season 3 came along. And Raven was…gone for half of it. On a quest! We heard about her. But didn't really *see* her.
Did anyone else feel like her absence left a Raven-shaped hole in the show? I know I did!
Let's be Honest: The Empathy Factor
Raven's powers are cool. Dark magic is awesome. But it's her empathy that really makes the character shine.
She's the heart of the team, in many ways. She can feel what others are feeling. She tries to help them work though their problems.
Without that grounding force, the show feels…less grounded. More chaotic. More "punch-first, ask-questions-later."
Did the Titans Need Therapy More Than a Villain?
Okay, maybe this is an unpopular opinion. But I think the Titans needed Raven's emotional support more than they needed to punch another bad guy. They are always traumatized.
Think about it. Everyone was dealing with serious issues. Dick's guilt. Starfire's sister. Beast Boy...well, he's always just trying to be happy.
A little Raven-style empathy could have gone a long way. Maybe it could have avoided the whole Red Hood situation. Okay, maybe not, but still!
The Unsung Hero of Team Dynamics
Consider this: Raven is often the voice of reason. The one who says, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't just rush into danger."
She is the necessary counterpoint to all the impulsive decisions. The level-headed one amongst the super-powered teens.
With her gone, it's like everyone just decided to wing it. All the time. Even more than usual.
My Unpopular Opinion: Season 3 Needed More Raven
Look, I get it. Characters need arcs. Actors have schedules. Storylines need to evolve. But Raven deserved better than a disappearing act.
She's a complex, compelling character. And frankly, the show just isn't quite the same without her presence grounding the chaos.
So, yeah, I'm saying it. I missed Raven in Season 3. A lot.
Hopefully Season 4 Makes Up For It
Maybe Season 4 will rectify this situation. Maybe we'll see a Raven renaissance. A true celebration of her awesomeness.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And chanting some (hopefully) harmless spells.
Because a Titans season with more Raven is a better Titans season. That's just a fact. (Or at least, my opinion. But still.)
