Will We See the 86 Fight Another Day?
Okay, let's talk about 86: Eighty-Six. We watched it, we cried (probably), and now we're left wondering: season two? The big question. The one that haunts our anime dreams.
Officially? Nothing yet. Radio silence from the higher ups. But fear not, fellow fans. We can speculate, right? That's what the internet is for!
Signs Pointing…Maybe?
The source material is definitely there. Author Asato Asato has given us a LOT of novels. Plenty of content to adapt, people!
And the first season? It did pretty well. Crunchyroll loved it. Fans loved it. So, business-wise, it kinda makes sense, doesn't it?
Plus, that ending? It felt...open. Like they were hinting at something more. Don't tell me it was just me who felt that way.
My (Slightly Unpopular) Opinion
Here's where I might lose some of you. I think...maybe...it doesn't *need* a second season. Gasp! I know, I know, hear me out.
The first season wrapped things up nicely. Shin and Lena found each other. It was emotional. Cathartic. Poetic, even.
Continuing the story risks ruining that perfect ending. We all know what can happen when a great show tries to recapture its magic. Cough, cough, *Game of Thrones*, cough.
But…But What About the Story?
Okay, fine, I get it. There's more story to tell! What about the Republic? What about other Legions? The possibilities are endless!
Maybe a movie would be better. A self-contained story. A cinematic adventure. Keeps the integrity of the original ending intact.
Or, dare I say it, a spin-off? Focusing on different characters, different battles. Expand the world without messing with Shin's journey.
The Problem with Expectations
Let's be real. A second season would have massive expectations. Everyone would be analyzing every frame, every line of dialogue.
The pressure to deliver something equally amazing, or even *better*, would be immense. That's a tough act to follow.
Sometimes, the best thing to do is leave things as they are. Let the story breathe. Let the ending resonate.
So, Will There Be Another Season?
Honestly? I have no clue. Nobody does, unless they're secretly working at A-1 Pictures. Spill the tea if you are!
I'm torn. Part of me desperately wants more 86. Another part is terrified of what might happen.
Whatever happens, I'll be watching. And probably crying again. Because that's what 86 does to you.
It makes you feel things.
The Final Verdict (Maybe)
Ultimately, it's up to the creators. Their vision. Their decision. We, the fans, can only hope for the best.
Maybe we'll get a season two announcement tomorrow. Maybe we won't. The anime world is full of surprises.
Until then, I'll just be re-watching the first season. Reliving those feels. And secretly hoping they leave it alone. Don't @ me.
